Context and Background

Welcome to the GGF Collective Care Program.

We are delighted to bring this resilience building opportunity to our African partners.

In today’s fast changing environment, demands on leaders, like yourself, are overwhelming and relentless and, as a strategy, “Collective Care” is a powerful feminist approach that provides you with care, protection and safety by operating from a space of “we”, “us”, all aligned together.

So, the idea of the program is to strengthen your resilience, by embedding, and embodying, the principles of Collective Care and, at the same time, to equip you with the tools and frameworks to bring these new “ways of being” back into your organisation.

What makes this program different is the values and practices at its very core. Values of trust, reciprocity, interdependence, courage and accountability. And practices that include embodying new alternative ways of being, re-visioning systems and cultures, and honouring lineage.

So welcome to our program. Please have a good read of what this program entails. And importantly, do check out the dates for the various program activities as you need to be available for each module – this is your commitment to yourself and the group for co-creating a space of Collective Care.

Application Deadline: Monday 4th May. 5pm UK time.

    The Program

Our program is a blend of different learning spaces, all interconnected to build on each other. The 3-day in-person retreat is a special human-centred space to make powerful connections; the executive coaching allows you to deepen your learning in a private confidential space and the online group work allows you to further build relationships and practice the fundamental skills underlying Collective Care together.

What you will learn and experience from this program:

    • Understand what a Collective Care strategy is and how it can benefit you and your team.
    • Develop your own Collective Care strategy based on your values, cultural norms and purpose
    • Gain a toolbox of skills, strategies, and techniques to implement your strategy.
    • Feel deeply supported by a community of fellow learners with its own Collective Care philosophy
    • Share challenges and gain real-life expertise and experience to generate new perspectives
    • Become a role model for others in your community, organisation, and country, by creating a system that allows women to thrive in grassroots work.

    Executive Coaching

One-to-one coaching is a powerful, intimate learning space for generating self-awareness, seeing new options and possibilities and moving through challenges and barriers in the working environment. The sessions last one hour and, in this time, your coach will clarify your objectives, explore the issues with powerful questions, bring tools and frameworks for generating fresh thinking and new perspective around Collective Care.

    • You have 2 coaching session, each 1 hour
    • You select your coach from the program facilitators
    • You can have a different coach for each session
    • Coach and participant will co-create concrete, practical actions and practices for addressing challenges

    Peer Learning Groups

These virtual sessions are designed to provide a space for peers to connect, exchange challenges and experiences within a structured framework. These spaces are about sharing your current wisdom on Collective Care and learning from each other. Also great for building trust and safety in the community.

    • You have two Peer sessions, 90 mins duration
    • Your sessions are on Zoom and in smaller breakout rooms of 10 participants
    • The Kairos facilitators will provide structure and guiding questions and encourage peer exchange
    • Our aim is to equip the cohort to facilitate these session on their own after the program

Peer Learning 1: Thursday 16th July. 12:00 UK Time

Peer Learning 2: Thursday 15th October : 12:00 UK Time

    Buddy Groups

This space allows you to further explore your insights and reflections around Collective Care in threes; the sessions are self-managed with a clear process. It encourages you to develop the competencies that underpin Collective Care – deep listening, empathy, commitment and reliability, honesty and authenticity.

    • After the Orientation session, you will be set up with two other participants in the program.
    • You are all invited to make contact and schedule 40 mins conversation every month – to be self-organized by your group.
    • We will share with you the guidelines for how to run these sessions.
    • There will be approx. 6 buddy sessions throughout the program.

    Care Modules

Our Care Modules are highly interactive, participatory and immediately applicable to your professional context. The space allows you to go deeper into the specific aspects of Collective Care at a personal and organisational level – for instance how to hold strong boundaries, resolve and mediate conflict, build rituals to sustain your team, embody and experience a space of Collective Care, and how to rest, replenish and rejuvenate in order to avoid burn out and chronic fatigue. All of these and much more are essential to a Collective Care culture.

    • Each module is 90 mins at 1200 UK time
    • Facilitated and designed by Kairos expert in each subject
    • Kairos Facilitator will provide practical tools, guiding questions and applied learning techniques
